London, ON – March 15, 2019

The London Muslim Mosque and the community are shocked and devastated beyond words to learn of the mass shooting at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. At least 49 people have been killed while offering Friday prayers and over 20 have been injured.

Our most heartfelt prayers go out to the deceased and their families. We share their pain and sorrow, and we mourn them like our own.

The London Muslim Mosque is taking increased security measures today. We have reached out to the Chief of Police for the London Police Service and requested police presence at LMM, Medway and YMCA for the Friday prayers today. We have been employing a police officer for traffic for the last 5 months, who will be on site today as well. We are increasing security personnel today inside LMM and in the parking lot. Lastly, we are meeting with security consultants to put in preventative security measures at LMM.

LMM will be hosting a community forum tonight at 7:30 PM at the LMM Gymnasium. This is a chance for the community to come and heal together. Please click here for details.
